Harare Book Club is excited to announce the launch of our library based at the mental health and wellness charity Friendship Bench Zimbabwe!
Starting from 1st June 2025, HBC shall be operating a library in the Friendship Bench Hub community centre at 9 Avon Rise, Mt Pleasant. Members of the general public are welcome to join our growing community library.
The aim of this library is to provide low-cost accessibility to books from a wide range of genres and interest areas, to readers from all walks of life based in the capital city.

Membership
Our growing community library currently has over 450 books. Library patrons will enjoy access to a seamless lending experience via our online catalogue system.

Free Library
Books are portals to a world of endless possibilities. We appreciate that cost can be a prohibitive barrier to readers. With this in mind, we have created a small, free exchange section of our library.
Placed at the front entrance of the Friendship Bench Hub, is a small collection of titles. This section is free for members of the general public to borrow books, without having to signup for membership.
The rules are simple:
To borrow 1 (one) book, you must share 1 (one) book to the library
Return books within 1 (one) month
Adhere to the honour system - free libraries only work if readers commit to honesty and generosity
Kindly note this small section is separate from the main library collection. One must be a paid up member to borrow books from the larger catalogue.
Book Donations
The HBC library relies mainly on the generous patronage of book donations. We are immensely thankful to all who have gifted books to our growing catalogue.
